Exercise Won’t Cure Your Weight Problem

Physical activity is a well known for its benefits of: strengthens bones and muscles, improves physical as well as mental health and mood, lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancers; exercise is also good for better blood circulation, which means increase your immunity and better oxygen supply for your brain.
Although balanced nutrition diets coupled with vigorous routine exercises has long been the favored prescription for losing weight and reducing obesity, a new study suggests that the diet that actually plays the key role; but it should not be your reason to cut back your activity level to maintain activity of your bone & muscle strengthening whatsoever. Proper exercise has also can improve student’s academic performance and delay any memory loss on older people.
Physical activity offers many proven benefits to overall health, but it can not cure weight problem, specifically obesity. Researchers from Loyola University Health System and other centers compared African American women in metropolitan Chicago with women in rural Nigeria. On average, the Chicago women weighed 184 pounds and the Nigerian women weighed 127 pounds. Researchers had expected to find that the slimmer Nigerian women would be more physically active. To their surprise, they found no significant difference between the two groups in the amount of calories burned during physical activity.
Decreased physical activity may not be the primary driver of the obesity epidemic, while Diet is a more likely explanation than physical activity expenditure for why Chicago women weigh more than Nigerian women, since the Nigerian diet is high in fiber and carbohydrates and low in fat and animal protein. By contrast, the Chicago diet is 40 % to 45 % (bad) fat and high in additive foods ingredients. A similar study of men and women in Jamaica found out that there was no association between weight gain and calories burned during physical activity.
The point is that in order to control weight, you need to make serious consideration of your daily intake and make sure that you have a balanced diet that cover all essential nutrition needed by your body to operate and function properly. Eat all source of good food explained in the food pyramids, which contains: carbohydrate (high fibers, whole grains), proteins, good fats, vitamins (don’t waste money on multivitamins supplements) and minerals. Don’t eat certain kind of food exclusively, such as all-protein-&-no-carb-diet, since it would only ruin your metabolism signals and make you irritate easily. Also, manage your stress, since higher depression could trigger emotional eating, which mean could ruin your weight management program. Empower yourself to become nutritionally literate, Good Luck!
